Mall and Department Store Software: Separate Counters, One Owner
For a store inside a mall, or a department store with several counters, the software splits products, staff, and sales by department, then gives the owner one daily total. A shirt is a style with size and color. An electronics item is a serial number. A grocery counter inside the same building still sells by weight. Those are different product shapes in one app. Software that collects rent from independent tenant shops is a separate job: shops, dues, and payments, not a till.
A department is not a folder of the same products
Garments need a style, a size, and a color, and stock for each combination. Electronics often need a serial or IMEI on the sale so a return is that unit, not 'a phone'. A cosmetics or grocery counter inside the same store still cares about expiry or weight. Putting all of that in one 'item name + price + quantity' form is how the wrong size is sold and the grocery stock drifts.
Who can sell what
Staff belong to a counter. A garments cashier should not quietly discount the electronics drawer. Each counter has its own shift and its own count. The owner's report adds the counters without erasing them. Returns go back to the department that sold the item.
When you are the landlord, not the shop
A mall operator who bills independent shops for rent, power, or a sales share does not need a product barcode. They need shops, contracts, invoices, and payments. I can build that. It is a different screen from the POS, even if the same person logs in. Mixing rent into the receipt is how both numbers become untrustworthy.
Questions this page answers
I have a shop in a mall. Do I need mall software?
You need a shop POS, plus the department or counter you actually run. The mall's own reporting, if the landlord asks for a sales figure, is an export you define. You do not need a tenant-rent system unless you are the landlord.
Can one barcode system cover garments and groceries?
Yes, as separate departments. The garment counter asks for size and color. The grocery counter asks for weight. A single piece-count screen will be wrong for one of them.
What if I own the mall and collect rent?
That is not the till. It is a record of shops, charges, and payments. Say so on the call and it is scoped on its own. It can share a login with the store app. It should not be hidden inside a receipt screen.
